BRIDGING THE GAP AND BUILDING THE BRIDGE
PREAMBLE
The advent of the 1996 Centennial Olympics Celebration in Atlanta, Georgia marked the ending of the international psyche that Africa is not a major player in the global economy. During that monumental year, the Africa World Museum and Center opened its doors to facilitate the vision of the City of Atlanta as a route to global participation in the Southeastern United States. Similarly, Africa World Museum and Center has also served as an important landmark where a declaration of global unity can create a change in African and African-American History.
Chief Tunde Adetunji, Africa Cultural Ambassador, CEO and President of the Africa World Museum and Center envisioned a place of historical significance that would serve as a gateway for divergent economic powers to develop global relationships and to execute a feasible declaration of unity between Atlanta, Georgia, other cities and states within the United States, and various African countries.
Since its inception, The Africa World Museum and Center has become a case study along with its sister organization, The Africa Heritage Foundation, in the cooperative efforts of diverse economic powers making Chief Adetunji initiative one of the most significant of its time. The initial step towards creating an economic highway between the City of Atlanta, Georgia and various African countries has by far achieved exemplary success.
The Museum and Center is a cultural icon in the city of Atlanta and hosts dignitaries, head of states, and prominent citizens from around the world to promote a number of significant initiatives with a primary focus on investment and economic opportunities. Its legendary commitment to promoting the achievements of Africans and African-Americans has established it as a world class organization amongst the national and international communities
SIGNIFICANCE
The growth of any economy is predicated on the proper inter-play between human creative abilities and existing natural resources. The scenario whereby art, culture, and talent development is given a preference can definitely project artistic and creative abilities, which are central to all production and management undertakings. The antecedents of which behavioral patterns and values in the society will lead to a quantum of creative skills, abilities and values relevant to the overall tasks of economic development.
Africa is a continent of many possibilities. In fact, it is the hub of the world economic propensity and posterity, but somehow still remains the missing link in the global economy. Africa World Museum and Africa Heritage Foundation professes a solution and antidote to bring the indigenous, the distant, and the intimate Africans together to work in unison towards a common goal of economic renaissance and rejuvenation of the motherland by Bridging the Gap and Building the Bridge, a wonderful venture that will create a better understanding of the world as a united global village.INVITATION
It is with great enthusiasm, respect and admiration that the entire management and staff of the Africa World Museum and Center and the Africa Heritage Foundation invite you to attend the BRIDGING THE GAP AND BUILDING THE BRIDGE Conference starting October 22-26th 2008, in Atlanta, Georgia. This is an invitation to promote international trade, particularly Africa’s trade commerce and industry for investment and business opportunities. Based upon an acknowledged and growing need to assist individuals with investment opportunities in Africa, we have planned this seminar to “open the door” to the African market place and to build an international network of corporations who share in this interest. The conference will examine barriers towards participation in Africa’s economic and investment opportunities, as well as an emphasis on the Africa Heritage Foundation’s primary objectives, which will be listed in the sponsorship package to be forwarded to you at a later date.
OBJECTIVES
The conference’s primary objectives are to develop international partnerships, support the emergence of Africa’s private sector, promote direct foreign investment in Africa, and leverage the imbalances in Africa’s growing economy. Some of the benefits of the conference are satisfaction from investments that eradicate poverty, investment opportunities that change the political and economic image of Africa, access to the $199 billion dollars the U.S. Government has committed to trade capacity building activities; and networking and subcontracting opportunities.
CONFERENCE OUTCOMES
Apart from your physical presence and participation in this conference, there will be a notable documentary created for posterity in book and electronic format. This publication will be dedicated to the preservation of selected individuals in the black community, who have made their marks in their chosen fields, and have left indelible paths for future generations to tread. The outcome will definitely prove our generation as an active participant in the documentation of the history of our time.
